Introduction to Quilting

Join Karen in the very informative 9 week program and cover ALL the basics.  This class touches upon all the basic techniques of quilting, including rotary cutting, strip piecing, applique, hand quilting, basting, sandwiching, machine quilting and basting.  By the end students should complete a wall hanging or table runner with the skills required to go on to larger quilts.  You go home with a FINISHED project.

This 8 week class is designed for the beginner/intermediate.  We will work on hand & machine piecing, applique, templates and strip piecing.  With 12 new blocks you will get a traditional sampler in colors of your choice.  An excellent next step for graduates of Intro to Quilting or those wishing to learn how to put together a variety of blocks.

Spring Time Tulips Table Runner

We have discovered a fun new pattern designer in our own backyard - Pam of Buttonhole Quilt Design. We'll be making her Spring Time Tulips Runner. There are 3 different runner designs and you will have the option of doing the applique by hand or machine. This is a delightful design that will add a sparkle to any table!!

Block of Month.

We will be starting a new B.O.M. with a different variation. This will be a background piece which will showcase a different 'banner' or theme for each month. You may piece all together in a quilt if you desire. Keep posted for a starting date.(possibly November)

Beginner’s Quilting Weekend

We’ve had a number of requests to run a 2 day beginners course on a weekend.  Here it is!  We are going to use the book “I can’t Believe I’m Quilting” and combine two of the projects.  We will cover rotary cutting, ¼” seam allowances, pointy points, borders, backing & binding.  Come join us for an information packed weekend.

Beginner’s Machine Quilting Primer

Your quilt top is done, the quilt is basted but you’re stuck.  You want to machine quilt it but just don’t know where to start.  This one day class will focus on using the walking foot in the morning and the free motion foot in the afternoon.  Your samples will include stopping and starting, continuous line designs, quilting without marking and more.  Come play for the day!

This get together will be held Friday, June 13 & 27
 at 6.30 p.m.  There will  be a $3.00 fee towards hydro. please phone in ahead to reserve your seat, reserve pizza, also to check if the date is still on.

Loving Hands group

This is a volunteer group – we need you and your sewing machine OR you pressing abilities with the iron
               
We will be making small quilts for our wounded Canadian soldiers.  We have a valid and authorized connection and they will be passing them on to a soldier on our behalf.  If you wish to make one yourself  the sizes are between 50” – 70” wide and 70” – 90” long.  Design and color choice are up to you.  We have designed labels to put on these quilts or you may design your own.  We thank you in supporting our mission.
